November 3 - Global logistics service provider Logwin is expanding in India with the opening of an office in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
This brings to nine the number of Logwin locations in the country: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Karur, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, Tirupur and Tuticorin.
Hyderabad benefits from having an international airport, a container depot and a direct highway connection to the sea port of Vishakhapatnam, allowing good hinterland communications.
In 2010, the group generated sales of EUR1.4 billion (USD20.5) and currently employs over 5,800 staff. Logwin operates in all main markets worldwide and has approximately 250 locations across all continents.
Logwin has been operating in India since 2008 and today employs 74 people throughout the country, delivering air, sea and land transportation services, providing warehousing and value added services, performing customs clearance and full distribution.
The company also develops special industry-specific solutions and in May, worked with Chapman Freeborn to move a rotor used in power generation from Düsseldorf to Chile. As reported in HLPFI (May 12), the movement was accompanied by a camera team from the US broadcaster Discovery Channel. One of the programmes of an eight-part documentary series will be dedicated to the loading of the Antonov-124. The documentary series, entitled Mighty Planes, is likely to be broadcast at the beginning of 2012.
