November 28 - Locar Brazil, on behalf of Bertling Logistics Brazil, has transported a 361-ton (327.5-tonne) generator from the Port of Pelotas to the UTE Pampa Sul power plant in Candiota.

From the Port of Pelotas, the generator, which measured 12.6 m x 4.5 m x 4 m, was transported 8 km (5 miles) to a storage facility, where it was held for over a month before onward transportation to Candiota.

For the 150 km (93.2 miles) journey to Candiota, the cargo was transported using a Cometto high-girder bridge; two heavy-duty 500 hp trucks and an Oshkosh traction unit; two Scania heavy-duty trucks; and 44 Goldhofer axle lines with 352 tires.

The total weight of the convoy was 847 tonnes and had a total length of 125 m.

Upon arrival in Candiota, the generator was transported 10 km (6.2 miles) to UTE Pampa Sul.

According to Locar Brazil, the main challenges of the project were obtaining the permits from the National Department of Transport (DNIT), and the crossing through urban areas in Pelotas.

Other equipment used for the project included a 600-ton (544-tonne) capacity hydraulic gantry, a 15-ton (13.6-tonne) lifting capacity articulated crane and two telescopic cranes with a lifting capacity of 80 tons (72.6 tonnes) each.
