October 22 - Liebherr's latest model, the TCC 14000-400 D Litronic combined offshore and mobile harbour crane, has been assembled at the port of Baku in Azerbaijan.
The design concept for the TCC 14000-400 D Litronic was announced and its production began in 2011, with the crane being delivered to the customer earlier this year.
The first field of application for the multi-purpose crane, which has a dead weight of approximately 1,100 tonnes, is the construction of oil platforms in the Caspian Sea.
The crane can be used as an offshore crane under offshore conditions, able to lift heavy loads up to a maximum of 400 tonnes at an outreach of 21 m and 91 tonnes at an outreach of 70 m, with a maximum under hook height of 68 m.
The crane can also operate as a mobile harbour crane with high lifting capacities due to its undercarriage, which consists of a central X-shaped structure to which four outriggers are mounted.
For travelling operation the base structure can be fitted with 48 wheel sets and propped up on support units situated at the end of the outriggers. In this way the crane achieves equally low ground pressure values as a standard mobile harbour crane whilst travelling and during operation, says Liebherr.
