September 2 - HKV Schmitz + Partner has used a Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 mobile crane to erect a temporary bridge over the A3 motorway between Cologne-Mülheim and Leverkusen in Germany.
The entire section of the motorway was closed during the construction of the temporary bridge, which meant that the lift had to be completed within a very narrow time window, explained Liebherr.
HKV decided to use its 300-tonne capacity LTM 1300-6.2 crane, which was delivered to the company in April 2015, and is equipped with Liebherr's VarioBase supporting system that provides increased safety and load capacity.
Once the four sections of the temporary bridge had been transported to the site using semi low-loaders, the crane, equipped with a total ballast of 96 tonnes, got to work unloading the pieces and placing them onto prepared foundations in order to form the bridge.
While this work was underway, HKV used another of its Liebherr cranes - and LTM 1400-7.1 model - to install an additional makeshift bridge over an adjacent section of the motorway.
