December 23 - Crane manufacturer Liebherr is celebrating the delivery of its 300th LTM 1500-8.1, described by the company as the most successful telescopic crane of its class, anywhere in the world.
The crane was purchased by the Brazilian Tomé group, established in 1973 with a workforce of some 4,000 employees.
It is engaged in engineering, including technical planning and construction (Tomé Engenharia), as well as crane operation and heavy haulage (Tomé Equipamentos e Transportes).
The group operates some 200 mobile and crawler cranes, as well as 700 transport units.
According to Washington Luiz de Moura, CFO of Holding Tomé and COO of Tomé Equipamentos e Transportes, the easy and rapid supply of spare parts and reliable after-sales service influenced the decision to purchase from Liebherr.
The LTM 1500-8.1 offers a high lifting capacity, Liebherr said, and "extraordinary mobility" on the road and on construction sites.
With a 12-tonne axle load and a total weight of 96 tonnes, it can travel at up to 80 km/h on the road.
