July 5 - Atheka Aviation, one of Libya's first private and independent aviation services company, has opened an office and international hub in the European Union.
Formed in 2006, Tripoli-based Atheka Aviation has opened an international hub for marketing and sales in Athens, Greece to offer a full range of aviation services. Among its services, Atheka offers refuelling, cargo service, ground handling and ground transportation.
Libya, currently undergoing reconstruction following its recent war, has 18 IATA-registered domestic airports able to support commercial air freight activity. Tripoli Airport, a former WWII RAF station, was officially re-opened on 11 October 2011. Two cargo airlines currently offerscheduled services to the airport.
