December 3 - FPS Logistics Thailand (FPST), a wholly owned subsidiary of Leo Global Logistics, has launched a new logistics operation in Myanmar.
Leo Myanmar Logistics Company, which opened its doors on December 1, is a partnership between FPST/Leo Global and Myanmar's EFR Group of companies. FPST/Leo Global and EFR have worked together before, moving eight mid-sized projects and heavy lift shipments into Myanmar in 2013.
Leo Myanmar Logistics' first base in the country will be in capital Rangoon. The company will also become the member of the FPS global forwarding and consolidation network for Myanmar.
In the next two years, the new company says that its main focus will be major project and heavy lift cargoes employed in the development of infrastructure and manufacturing, and it will provide a complete logistics solution spanning international multimodal transport, Customs formalities, warehousing and inland transport.
Although a number of Japanese, Singaporean and Korean forwarders have set up businesses in Myanmar, FPST/Leo Global is thought to be the first Thai organisation to do so.
