October 19 - The Korean Register (KR) has signed an agreement with Liberty Blue Shipmanagement, Leer, Germany-based ship management company to provide its full range of classification services including the ISM code, the ISPS code, the MLC Convention, EU-
Liberty Blue Shipmanagement was formed last year and brings together medium-sized ship management companies, their fleets and maritime service providers, to merge expertise and create strong alliances.
KR says that it was chosen because of the quality of its technical services and the opportunities it offered Liberty Blue to expand and grow its business in Asian markets.
Dietrich Schulz, managing director of Liberty Blue, said: "We are delighted to have a new working partner and we believe that KR can become our eyes and ears for the Asian markets. KR has proved their experience in several areas and we are looking forward to a long-term cooperation."
Michael Suhr, technical and commercial director, KR, added that in providing key technical services to the ship management company's fleet, it will work to support Liberty Blue's client relationships, enhancing the efficiencies and quick response expertise available to the latter's global fleet.
KR was accredited as a verifier for the provision of EU-MRV services by Germany's national verification body DAkkS earlier this year.
Speaking last year, Schulz said his intention was to grow Liberty Blue into an even bigger platform for containerships and multipurpose (MPP) vessels by consolidating with other owners in the north German region.
