December 16 - KOG Transport has coordinated the delivery of a 48-tonne THF recovery plant unit from Basel, Switzerland to Patrica in Italy via the Gotthard road tunnel.
The unit, which measured 22 m long by 4.5 m wide and 4 m high, was transported by road through the 17 km long tunnel, which has a height limit of just 4.5 m.
KOG arranged for the oversize piece to be moved on a flatbed truck with telescopic chassis, accompanied by a support vehicle and police escort.
Due to the size of the unit the transport had to take place at night, with the entire journey - which totalled about 1,000 km - spanning around six nights.
KOG in Switzerland was contracted by Sulzer to deliver the recovery plant unit, which is used to bind solvents in a production process.
