January 5 - Khimji Ramdas Projects & Logistics Group has completed the delivery of cargo for the Rabab Harweel sour oil and gas project site in Oman.
As onshore logistics providers for the USD900 million Harweel project, Khimji Ramdas has delivered various cargoes from the ports of Sohar and Salalah to the site, covering a total distance of 100,000 km. The Harweel development is located 220 km north of Salalah Port and 950 km south of Sohar Port.
Khimji Ramdas explained that its drivers underwent special training and obtained certification in order to operate in the project site and its surroundings.
"In Oman, sour oil and gas is mostly concentrated in the south of the country, predominantly in the Al Noor, Birba and Harweel fields," said Khimji Ramdas business development assistant divisional manager, Chacko Jose.
"The ground-breaking nature of the Harweel project has made it a magnet for other oil and gas operators who are also facing up to the unique challenges of producing sour hydrocarbons. Among them have been representatives from Shell, who are working on a similar project at the Kashagan field in Kazakhstan."
Khimji Ramdas is a member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) in Oman.
