June 3 - "K" Line has established its own shipping agency, "K" Line Roro & Bulk Agencia Maritima Ltda in Brazil for the car carrier and bulk shipping business (both dry and liquid, including energy transportation).
The new company was established as a joint venture between "K" Line Brasil Ltda, "K" Line's wholly-owned general agent, together with the owners of the former agent (Capricorn Afretamentos Ltda) that was responsible for "K" Line's car carrier business in Brazil.
"K" Line Roro & Bulk Agencia Maritima Ltda undertakes all agency work for "K" Line's Car Carrier activities in Brazil, as well as being positioned for future strategic functions as "K" Line furthers expands its business in Brazil, given the growth opportunities that are evident in both the bulk and energy transportation sectors.
A spokesperson for the company has said that part of the commercial target for the ro-ro services represented by this new company will be high, OOG and / or heavy project cargoes, something which many operators of car carrier vessels have made a particular target as the volumes of cars shipped has plummeted over the last 12 months.
