December 21 - Jumbo Shipping's vessel, Fairpartner has successfully discharged the longest load in the shipping line's 41-year history heavy lift shipments.
Two tanker barges were loaded on board in Nantong, China. One of the barges, weighing over 1,330 tonnes, had a record length of 135 m, the longest piece of cargo ever lifted by a Jumbo heavy lift vessel. The combination of length, weight and discharging method produced a record lift: the 1,300 tonne load was lifted over portside at an outreach of 31 m.
The second barge had only slightly smaller dimensions: 1,100 tonnes and a length of 130 m. The barges were double-stacked, lashed and secured, then shipped to Rotterdam, via the Cape of Good Hope.
On arrival, the Fairpartner's twin 900 tonne mastcranes were deployed to discharge the barges straight into the dock.
