August 23 - Rotterdam-based Jumbo Offshore, part of the Jumbo shipping group, has been involved in the significant installation of the deepest Free Standing Hybrid Risers (FSHRs) in an ultra-deepwater project in the Gulf of Mexico for a major oil industry
Technip USA has completed the installation of five FSHRs for the Petrobras America Cascade and Chinook ultra-deepwater project in the Gulf of Mexico.
Transportation of the five buoyancy cans was handled by Jumbo's Fairplayer.
Installation, lead by Technip, was engineered and executed in a smooth and successful collaboration between Technip's construction vessels Deep Blue and Deep Pioneer and Fairplayer. They worked to install the buoyancy cans and risers in winter conditions.
Fairplayer, one of Jumbo's two DP2 offshore Heavy Lift Vessels, loaded the buoyancy cans at Technip's yard in Pori, Finland and transported them to the Cascade and Chinook offshore location in the Gulf of Mexico. There, she met up with Deep Blue and Deep Pioneer to commence installation.
After lowering the assembly to a depth of 200m, Technip made the connection between the riser and its foundation in the seabed at 2,500m water depth.
