March 17 - After its withdrawal in mid 2010 due to sanctions, Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) has resumed its regular liner service - European Container Line (ECL) - between northern Europe and ports in the Middle East Gulf.
The 2,500 teu containership, Azargoun, resumed the service with a call at the Port of Hamburg today. The ship will then call at the ports of Antwerp, Genoa, Istanbul, Port Said and Bandar Abbas. A second containership, Sevgi, will also be deployed on the service.
IRISL's liner services will be represented in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands by Hamburg based IRISL Agency (North) - a joint enterprise set up by Peter W. Lampke (PWL) and IRISL (Europe).
