July 11 - German project logistics service provider Integrated Project Services (IPS) has transported a 515-tonne converter to Point Lisas in Trinidad & Tobago.
The consignment was first transported using a specialised vehicle and inland waterway vessel to the port of Rotterdam.
From Rotterdam, the converter was then shipped on board a Hansa Heavy Lift vessel to Trinidad & Tobago, where it will act as the heart of an ammonia plant with the ability to produce up to 2,000 tonnes of ammonia per day.
In addition to the planning and handling of the project, IPS also provided ongoing monitoring and information management for those involved, explained the company.
"With an individual weight of 515 tonnes, this project was the largest heavy cargo consignment to date for IPS," claimed IPS' managing director, Stefan Hütten, and project manager, Uwe Warnke.
