May 12 - Intermarine LLC is adding 15 new vessels to its fleet to meet the rising demand of its heavy lift and project cargo customers.
Frank Fischer, managing director of tonnage and procurement, expained that Intermarine is launching its fleet renewal programme with long term charters on new vessels from the Taizhou Sanfu Shipyard and Huanghai Shipyard in China.
"These state-of-the-art, fuel efficient, eco-friendly newbuilds further enhance and validate our commitment to being a high quality partner and operator in heavy lift and project transport," said Fischer.
"We are partnering with excellent owners on this leg of our newbuild programme," added president and ceo, Alfred Stanley. "These mid-size new builds will form the core of our future fleet and provide an industry leading level of flexibility and efficiency."
Intermarine expects the first ship to enter service in 2015, with the rest of the vessels being delivered over a two year period.
