July 23 - Peters & May has secured a major new contract with Southampton, UK-based Griffon Hoverwork.
All sister companies under the Peters & May group umbrella will be involved in fulfilling Griffon Hoverwork's national and international transport requirements.
The services to be provided range from documentation preparation, secure packaging and onward transportation of spares through to the lifting, shipping and discharge of the finished 21 m hovercraft to overseas destinations.
According to Peters & May shipping manager Charlie Milligan, the company was selected over nine competitors due to a combination of many factors, not least of which is its ability to securely and efficiently transport vessels to any part of the world using the Peters & May global network of owned
offices and exclusive agencies throughout the shipment process.
Furthermore, where required, the company's own load masters will be available to oversee shipments at both departure and destination ports.
The first major shipment was in September 2009, with six 380TDs airfreighted to Abu Dhabi under very tight deadlines.
This month, a 21 m Griffon 8100TD hovercraft was despatched to Kuwait for the Kuwait Coast Guard, as well as a 8000TD to Singapore for crash rescue duties in the shallow waters of the Johore Straits and the Straits of Singapore.
