September 9 - Antwerp's Heavy Logistics has handled the door-to-door delivery of a packed cold-former machine from Belgium to Mauston, Wisconsin.
At the factory, Heavy Logistics' heavy lifting and handling department took care of the load-out of the machine, which weighed 176 tonnes and measured 15.65 m x 3.8 m x 3.9 m, with its gantry crane and rolling system.
The case was then transported on a 16-axle hydraulic modular Scheuerle trailer to a nearby inland terminal. Meanwhile the company's heavy pilots and permits department supplied the necessary road permits and police authorisations.
The next step in this project will involve loading the machine onto a barge, which will travel to Vlissingen, Netherlands, where it will be transferred to a Grieg Star vessel and shipped to Houston, Texas.
In Houston, the case will be transshipped onto a 16-axle railway platform car and travel 2,000 km to New Lisbon, Wisconsin, with the last 20 km to Mauston being bridged by a modular transporter.
Heavy Logistics is a member of both the Global Project Logistics Network (GPLN) and the Cargo Equipment Experts (CEE) network in Belgium.
