June 25 - Bremen-based, Hansa Meyer Global, has for the first time discharged a heavy lift consignment from a ship directly onto a special freight wagon and carried it by rail to its final destination.
The company managed the transport of two transformers, each weighing 113 tonnes, from Derince in Turkey to Hamburg in Germany by coaster, from where one transformer was transhipped onto an inland barge and shipped to Sankt Michaelisdonn in Germany.
The second transformer, destined for Ganderkesee in Germany, was carried the whole way by rail.
