GT USA Wilmington, the US arm of Gulftainer, has placed an order with Konecranes for nine all-electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes for its facilities at the port of Wilmington.
The units will be delivered in 2019 and 2020, in line with GT USA’s plans to modernise and improve its infrastructure in Wilmington.
In addition to the nine 41-ton (37.2-tonne) rubber-tyred gantry cranes, the order includes three 45-ton (40.8-tonne) reachstackers.
GT USA plans to invest USD100 million in its facilities at the port of Wilmington in 2019. In total, the company will invest USD500 million in a phased development plan aimed at increasing the operational efficiency and overall productivity at the port.
