The vessel was blessed during a short ceremony, in the presence of civil and maritime authorities, customers, port operators, managers of Grimaldi Group, and of its subsidiary, Atlantic Container Line (ACL).
The vessel measures 199.9 m in length, 32.3 m in width, and has a gross tonnage of 63,000 tonnes. It can carry either 6,700 ceu or 4,000 m of rolling freight and 2,500 ceu.
Grande New York is equipped with four hoistable decks, which means it can carry any type of rolling cargo up to 5 m in height, such as trailers and excavators. It has two access ramps, a side ramp, and a quarter stern ramp - which allows the loading of components weighing up to 150 tons (136.1 tonnes).
The vessel is fitted with an electronically-controlled MAN Diesel & Turbo main engine, which complies with new regulations for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions, while the installed scrubber reduces sulphur oxide emissions. The ship is also equipped with a ballast water treatment unit, ensuring it meets the future international regulations.
Grande New York is deployed on the on Mediterranean-North America route.
