January 19 - Italian shipping line Grimaldi Group plans to launch a new ro-ro service connecting Civitavecchia, Italy and the ports of Baltimore (USA) and Halifax (Canada) on the North American East Coast.
The service will be the first direct regular ro-ro link between the Mediterranean and North America, claims Grimaldi Group.
Four ro-ro vessels with a car carrying capacity of 25,000 will be mobilised on the service. The loop will include calls at ports in Gemlik (Turkey), Bar (Montenegro), Civitavecchia, Baltimore, Halifax and Antwerp.
