January 21 - UK transport company Chappell's of Stubbington has acquired its first Goldhofer vehicle: a five-axle MPA semi-trailer with a permissible axle load of 12 tonnes at 80 km/h or 15.6 tonnes at 20 km/h.
The vehicle was supplied by Andover Trailers, Goldhofer's sole UK distributor.
According to Chappell's managing director, Mark Harris, the company chose to invest in the Goldhofer MPA trailer due to its "unique combination" of low weight, functionality, simple engineering and minimum maintenance.
Goldhofer explained that the semi-trailer has a 60 degree steering angle, which guarantees optimum manoeuvrability, and a 350 mm suspension stroke, which it says is key to its long tyre life and smooth ride.
Chappell's will mainly be using the new trailer to move heavy construction plant across the UK and Europe.
