March 21 - Demag Cranes will supply a Gottwald G HMK 6407 mobile harbour crane to Heilbronner Versorgungs GmbH for use in the Neckar port, as well as a G HMK 8610 and G HMK 3405 to Rendsburg Port Authority GmbH for its port in Osterr
The crane destined for Heilbronn will assure both loading and unloading of river barges and handling of containers at the terminal. It is also the first Gottwald mobile harbour crane on the river Neckar and will increase the popularity of mobile harbour cranes in German rivers ports, as well as those at sea, claims Demag Port director Wolfgang Fegersaid: "The G HMK 6407 with a maximum lifting capacity of 100 tonnes and a working radius of 51 m offers the flexibility we require for our new inland terminal."
The two cranes for Rendsburg Port Authority GmbH will be used on the Kiel Canal, mainly for handling project cargoes - particularly large components for wind energy installations. Tandem operation is also planned, whereby the smaller G HMK 3405 mobile harbour crane which has a maximum 100 tonnes lifting capacity will work as a support crane for the larger G HMK 8610 mobile harbour crane which has a maximum 150 tonnes lifting capacity. Herwig Schröder, managing director of Rendsburg Port Authority GmbH explains "In tandem operation, with the two Gottwald Cranes we have lifting capacities of up to 250 tonnes, more than any other mobile harbour crane in Schleswig-Holstein."
