November 3 - DEME subsidiary GeoSea has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for the Galloper offshore wind farm, located 27 km off the Suffolk coast in the UK.

GeoSea will be responsible for the design, fabrication and installation of 56 steel monopile foundations, which will be driven into the seabed to provide a solid base for each of the wind turbines.

The monopiles being used for this project are the heaviest that GeoSea has ever installed, claims the company, with weights in excess of 1,100 tonnes.

The installation of the foundations is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2016.

Meanwhile, to strengthen local involvement in the UK offshore wind industry, DEME Group is organising a series of nationwide supply chain events to facilitate collaboration with local companies. The events will be organised between November and December 2015 in cooperation with local business associations at 13 nationwide locations.

The UK Roadshow is supported by Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and GROW:OffshoreWind, a funding to suppliers of offshore wind market, in cooperation with local business associations. The events kick-off in Glasgow on November 23 and conclude in London on December 11.
