December 20 - DEME's marine engineering specialist, GeoSea, has been awarded major offshore wind energy contracts for the Kentish Flats Extension wind farm in the UK and Gode Wind offshore farms in Germany.
GeoSea has secured a new EPCI contract for the design, supply and installion of the foundations for the Kentish Flats Extension offshore wind farm, as well as another contract for the installation of the 15 wind turbines from Vattenfall.
Work is scheduled to begin in spring 2015, when Geosea will deploy one of its jack-up vessels to install the turbines off the north Kent coast.
DONG Energy has also awarded GeoSea a contract for the transport and installation of the foundations for the Gode Wind offshore wind farms, which are located in the German Bight, 45 km from the shore.
The contract includes installing the monopole foundations, as well as the transport of the foundations from the manufacturer to the base port of Eemshaven.
This project is also scheduled to start in spring 2015, with the installation of 42 foundations at Gode Wind 02, followed by 55 foundations at Gode Wind 01.
The new contracts add approximately another EUR200 (USD272.9) million to GeoSea's order book.
