June 9 - GeoSea has completed the installation of the foundations for DONG Energy's Westermost Rough (UK) offshore wind farm project.
The project consists of 35 wind turbines positioned 9 km from the coast near Hull in the northeast of England.
GeoSea has been responsible for the transport and installation of the foundations, consisting of monopiles with 6.5 m diameters and weights ranging from 500 to 810 tonnes, as well as transition pieces weighing 367 tonnes.
GeoSea made use of the offshore wind installation vessel INNOVATION, which was loaded in Aalborg with five sets of monopoles and transition pieces, before shipping the cargo across the North Sea to be installed at the offshore site.
At the UK's Grimsby port, GeoSea established a project office from where the secondary works on the foundations were executed.
INNOVATION docked at Teesport for the vessel preparation, mobilisation and demobilisation works, all of which was completed by local UK companies.
