July 10 - Geodis has transported out-of-gauge (OOG) modules across Europe to the Lotos Refinery in Gdansk, Poland for Kinetics Technology (KT), part of the Maire Tecnimont Group.
Geodis' industrial projects team in Italy secured the contract earlier this year and started operations in May.
As part of the project, Geodis transported a 310-ton (281.2-tonne) column by barge from Germany to Rotterdam along the Ems River. From there, the cargo was transhipped onto a coastal vessel for transportation to the refinery's jetty in Gdansk, where it was unloaded using a floating crane.
According to Geodis, further shipments by breakbulk vessels are now in progress and, upon arrival at the Port of Gdansk, the three large columns, originating in northern Italy and Spain, will be transferred to barges for onward transportation to the Lotos refinery.
The final shipments of the project are expected later this year.
