June 15 - City Union Logistics and Lionheart Project Logistics have worked together to transport four transformers from China to a General Electric (GE) power plant in Egypt.
The transformers, each of which weighed 110 tonnes, and associated equipment were first transported from the factory in Changzhou to Pudong International Airport in Shanghai using both hydraulic and flatbed trailers.
On arrival at the Shanghai airport, two 350-tonne capacity mobile cranes were used to offload the equipment ready for shipment to Cairo. Four chartered AN-124 flights were required for the entire consignment, as well as five Boeing 747 freighter flights.
Shanghai-based City Union arranged the transport from Changzhou to the airport, as well as ground handling for all nine flights; while US-based Lionheart Project Logistics was responsible for the coordination and communication of the project with GE.
