September 1 - GAC has advised that Abu Dhabi Ports reserves the right to refuse the use of ships' lifting apparatus without valid certification, or if the equipment is considered by the HSE inspectors to be substandard.
GAC noted that ships' lifting apparatus will be considered substandard if there are crane malfunctions, that include the crane's hydraulic and/or pneumatic system; if the outreach of the crane is not fulfilling the operational requirement; if there is control system failure, emergency stop function failure or crane wire failure; if there are power supply problems; if there is corrosion, or long term abrasion; and if there are any bent or cracked hooks, as well as the absence of a hook safety latch.
If a ship's lifting apparatus is rejected, the ship agent will be requested to use the available mobile shore cranes of Abu Dhabi Ports.
