October 27 - GAC Russia has opened an office at the newly built port of Sabetta, providing ship agency and support services.
Located on the Ob Bay in the Yamal Peninsula, Sabetta is ideally located to serve vessels on the Northern Sea Route. The region's onshore and offshore oil and gas sector has great growth potential, with a number of projects at advancing stages of development.
The opening of an office at Sabetta complements the company's existing office at Murmansk, and according to GAC Russia's managing director, Arkady Podkopaev: "This is an opportunity for us to use our vast experience in operating in extreme environments. Given the harsh weather conditions and isolation of the region, the challenges are significant and will require extremely close coordination and attention to supporting port call activities. That's why we are developing a dedicated on-site presence and sending our most experienced personnel."
