The ports of Cartagena, Spain, Italy’s Trieste and Monfalcone, the Freeport of Riga Authority (Latvia), and North Sea Port in the Netherlands, are teaming up to tackle some of the major issues facing the ports sector.
The gateways will focus on sustainability, the energy transition, digitalisation, and the European transport network. They will work together to develop best practices in the energy management sector, environmental management, as well as sustainable port management.
Furthermore, the ports aim to boost commercial interests and support cargo flows between each other. Within this is sharing knowledge on further digitalisation. Another important objective of the network is cooperation for funding opportunities and joint projects under European grants.
