May 22 - The Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport) has seen the arrival of 17 military fighter jets from the Middle East at its Blount Marine Terminal.
The Northrop F-5 jets, which measured 50 ft (15.24 m) in length, arrived onboard Thorco Shipping's heavy lift vessel, Thorco Glory. Florida-based stevedoring company Portus handled the offloading of the jets, which according to Jaxport are worth USD1 million each.
International freight forwarder Kuehne + Nagel arranged the transportation of the jets, from a US ally in the Middle East, says Jaxport.
According to Jaxport, the aircraft were transported to destinations in north and central Florida where they will provide flight training and other services to the US military.
