March 29 Fairmount Marine's tug Fairmount Summit has towed the heavy lift barge Acergy Polaris from Brazil to Gabon.
The Acergy Polaris, owned by Subsea 7, is a multipurpose barge for heavy lift activities in deepwater fields. The barge, equipped with pipelay tower, heavy lift crane and accommodation, has a length of 137 m and is almost 40 m wide.
Fairmount Summit, which had just delivered the semi submersible drilling rig Delba III in Brazil, was mobilised towards a location offshore Rio de Janeiro. After a stop for replenishments, bunkers and a crew change, Fairmount Summit hooked up Acergy Polaris.
Fairmount Summit and Acergy Polaris safely arrived in Port Gentil, Gabon, after a flawless trans-Atlantic crossing.
