April 18 - EMS-Fehn-Group has begun delivering pipes for the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project, which is scheduled for completion in 2017.
The project will see 130,000 tonnes of pipes shipped from the German Port of Brake to the Albanian Port of Durres, where they will be placed in storage before being transported to the construction site. A total of 13 pipe shipments are planned, with the pipes measuring each between 12 and 15 m long.
The first pipes were loaded in Brake at the end of March and arrived at the EMS Albanian Port Operator (EMS APO) terminal in Durres just 11 days later. The third vessel has now been discharged at the port.
EMS Shipping, EMS APO and German Albanian Logistics Agency (GALA) - all members of the EMS-Fehn-Group - are all involved in this project, providing a range of Customs clearance, unloading and trucking services.
On completion, the pipeline will span 215 km onshore and cover 37 km offshore. It forms part of the Southern Gas Corridor, which stretches over 3,500 km from gas fields in Azerbaijan to Italy.
