October 18 - Two Dockwise semi-submersible ships, the 686 ft (209 m) Yacht Express and the smaller 556 ft (169.5 m) Super Servant 4, are carrying over 3,708 ft (1 130 m) of luxury yachts from Genoa, Italy, and Palma de Mallorca, Spain to Port Everglades i
With a combined value of over USD358 million, some yachts will disembark at the Fort Lauderdale stopover while others will carry on with Dockwise Yacht Transport (DYT) to other drop-off points in the USA and the Caribbean.
The company noted that some commercial yachts for charter could normally cross the Atlantic under their own power, but with the rising cost of fuel and maintenance on the engines, "it makes more sense to ship with DYT".
Since its maiden voyage in 1987, DYT has transported over 12,000 motor and sailing yachts to various destinations around the globe.
