July 11 - The Port of Duqm, Oman will enhance its project cargo handling capabilities to serve the country's rapidly expanding oil and gas industry, according to the port's commercial director Reggy Vermeulen.
The gateway is preparing to receive two 120-tonne capacity mobile harbour cranes. The cranes will be able to perform tandem lifts of up to 240 tonnes and according to Vermeulen, the Port of Duqm will be the first gateway in Oman to offer this service.
Vermeulen adds that the Port of Duqm is the only gateway in Oman with virtually no restrictions in terms of sizes and weight of cargo that can be imported.
"We are now working intensively with the major players in the oil industry to have the Port of Duqm as the main entry point for their project cargoes," he added.
