October 18 - Dan-Czech Specialtransport has handled the delivery of a 60-tonne dryer drum from its manufacturer's site in Prerov, Czech Republic to Tiszapüspöki in Hungary.
The cargo, which measured 49.5 m x 5.1 m x 5.25 m, was transported by road using a trailer combination of two Goldhofer THP/ET5 units and a 19 m long vessel bridge loading deck.
Dan-Czech explained that the bridge is equipped with two hydraulic arms on each side, which allows the cargo to be lifted up to 1.5 m above the ground in order to overcome obstacles and sharp turns en route.
The company told HLPFI that route surveys and bridge engineering - including bridge assessments and static calculations - also had to be conducted in order to navigate the complex routing with its tight roundabouts and sharp turns.
In addition, there were a number of power lines and cables that had to be lifted or temporarily removed during the transport operations.
Dan-Czech stated that it worked closely with the power companies and railway authorities in order to complete the 570 km journey, which took a total of ten days to complete.
