February 1 - Dockwise has taken delivery of the world's largest semi-submersible heavy lift vessel - Dockwise Vanguard.
The ship was manufactured by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea and having successfully completed sea trials, has now embarked on its maiden voyage.
Dockwise Vanguard will sail to the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) yard in South Korea to pick up the hull of the Jack/St Malo semi-submersible production facility for transportation to the US Gulf of Mexico.
According to André Goedée, Dockwise's CEO, the vessel left the shipyard in Busan without a single lost time incident, adding that "we are confident that that the Vanguard will rapidly earn its place in the market and has the potential to create a new market of its own."
