April 22 - After a 15,608 nautical mile, 63-day voyage from South Korea, Eni Norge's Goliat platform has been delivered Hammerfest, Norway.

The 64,000 tonne floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) platform was transported using the Dockwise Vanguard, which voyaged across the Indian Ocean, around the southern tip of Africa, and then north through the Atlantic west of the British Isles.

In the fjord outside Hammerfest, the deck of the Dockwise Vanguard was submerged to a depth of 10 m enabling the Goliat platform to be floated off into the sea. Five tugboats will now tow the 170-m high unit to Ersvika, southwest of Hammerfest.

Once at Ersvika, work to prepare the platform for action will will begin. The FPSO will then be towed roughly 80 km to the Goliat field, where it will be connected to its 14 anchor lines. It is scheduled to come on stream in mid-2015. Eni Norge claims it will be the world's largest FPSO facility when it enters service.
