February 11 - Dorman Long Technology (DLT) has been awarded a contract by Qinhuangdao Tianye Tolian Heavy Industry for the design of a bridge deck erection gantry, a transporter and a pair of straddle carriers for the Doha Link of the Sheik Jaber Al Ahmad
The Doha Link is a 12.43 km sea crossing with twin parallel decks, and is being constructed from precast concrete deck beams supported on existing cast piers.
The straddle carriers, transporter and gantry have all been designed to handle precast concrete bridge decks, weighing up to 1,700 tonnes and with a span range of 30 - 60 m.
The equipment is due for delivery to the site towards the end of 2015, said DLT.
