December 18 - DHL Global Forwarding - a sub-division of Deutsche Post DHL - participated in the transport of commemorative Vietnam War maps between Chicago and the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Through its Domestic Freight Services division, DHL Global Forwarding shipped twelve concrete panels containing the historic maps to the memorial site - each one measuring 0.91 m x 1.52 m and weighing 181.4 kg.
"For DHL Global Forwarding, this is a rare opportunity to assist in such an eye-opening, important shipment honoring and illustrating the battles fought by those who served during the Vietnam War," said Kevin Bock, vice president of US domestic freight for DHL Global Forwarding.
Installed by Chicago-based engineering firm Armbruster Company, the pieces are now housed alongside historic World War II and Korean War maps - and galleries of the names of those missing in action from all three conflicts.
