DHL Express is the first within Deutsche Post DHL Group to test hydrogen-fuelled trucks for long-haul deliveries.
The trucks are moving between Breda, the Netherlands, and Brussels in Belgium, transporting cargoes for client Apple as part of the Interreg NW Europe programme H2-Share. The programme’s goal is to facilitate the development of low-carbon heavy-duty vehicles on hydrogen for logistic applications.
While battery-electric trucks can operate efficiently within last-mile delivery, fuels from renewable energies such as hydrogen are essential for zero-emission line-haul, said DHL.
