February 7 - Damen Shipyards Bergum, a subsidiary of Netherlands headquartered Damen Shipyards Group, has delivered a brand new combi-lift vessel - the Damen Combi Freighter 3850 'Hoogvliet'.
The vessel will be deployed into service in European waters, with main clients being Hartel Shipping and Hudig & Veder.
The 3,800 dwt vessel has an 8.43 m hull height and a tween deck on half height. Hartel Shipping and Hudig & Veder liaised with manufacturer Damen from a very early stage to ensure the newbuild met its exacting requirements.
John Brommel, managing director, Hartel Shipping commented that it had designed relatively lower tonnage vessels for cost-effective reasons. Hoogvliet's smaller size can allow it to call at Europe's smaller ports, as well as being able to serve the larger gateways in Antwerp, Hamburg and the wider Baltic region.
