February 10 - English star cricketer, Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff, has stepped up to the crease to become the latest sports star to sign a sponsorship deal with global logistics and shipping company GAC.
As well as the honour of having been captain of the England team, Flintoff now has the distinction of being the first professional cricketer sponsored by GAC.
His recent re-location to Dubai as a permanent base means he is also now a local boy for the Dubai-based forwarder.
Donning his whites, Bill Hill, group vice president commercial, said: "This is the first time that GAC has sponsored a pro-cricketer. We believe that the skills and values that drive top cricketers are parallel with what makes a company great - energy, focus, dedication and teamwork."
Back in the clubhouse, GAC's stable of sports sponsorship deals includes Crystal Palace FC, Audi Championship driver Alex Brundle, and pro-golfers Richard Sterne and Graeme Storm.
