June 2 - Cosco Shipping's semi-submersible vessel Xiang Yun Kou has loaded what it claims is the first semi-submersible floating accommodation unit in the world in Shanghai for shipment to Brazil.
The large unit, Arendal Spirit, weighs a total of 22,615 tonnes, with a body diameter of 60 m, bottom diameter of 74.3 m, main deck diameter of 66 m, ship's depth of 27 m and draft of 7.5 m. The offshore accommodation module was constructed by Nantong Cosco Shipyard.
Meanwhile, Cosco Shipping's multipurpose heavy lift vessel Da Liang loaded two 566-tonne LPG tanks in Jiangyin, China, also for delivery to Brazil. So far Cosco has transported a total of eight tanks, each of which have the dimensions 33.9 m x 15.12 m x 14.35 m, to Suape for a major project that was awarded to the shipping line back in February 2014.
