COSCO Shipping & Guangzhou Salvage Heavy Transport (CSGS) said that it has secured the transportation contract for the Trion project’s floating production unit (FPU).
The 44,000-tonne FPU will be fabricated in Ulsan, South Korea before being transported to the Gulf of Mexico onboard the 98,000 dwt semi-submersible vessel Xin Guang Hua.
“We are excited and thankful that Woodside Energy and Pemex have put their trust in us to safely transport and deliver the Trion FPU to Mexico.” said Josh Wilson, vice president commercial at COSCO Shipping Heavy Transport.
The Trion field is located 180 km offshore, just south of Mexico/USA maritime border. It is being developed by Woodside Energy and Pemex. Oil production is expected to commence in 2028.
