August 12 - Spain headquartered project forwarder Coordinadora Internacional de Cargas has handled the shipment of a 378 tonne transformer from Seville to Texas, USA.
The 10.51 m x 4.13 m x 5.05 m transformer will be used in the Jewett Nuclear Power Plant in Texas.
The transformer was loaded on board a heavy lift vessel in Seville before making for Beaumont, USA. The US gateway was chosen due to the weight of the unit and ground pressure load restrictions at other ports in the Houston area.
Upon arrival in Beaumont the transformer was discharged from the vessel and transferred onto a 20-axle depressed railcar for on forwarding. The transformer was unloaded at night and spent only 36 hours in the port before it begun its journey to he Jewett Nuclear Power Plant.
