July 6 - TAGU Tiefbau and Combi Lift have formed a new joint venture company for the combined execution of wind energy, offshore installation and maintenance projects.

The new joint venture will see TAGU's experience in port and hydraulic engineering, waterway construction and offshore construction services be coupled with Combi Lift's project engineering and heavy cargo logistics expertise, as well its fleet of multipurpose vessels.

The two companies hope that the new venture will "make the difference in tender procedures for large international projects," by developing individual and customised solutions, as well as integrated logistics concepts.

"There is often a lot of possible for optimisation in coordinating the different services in a large scale construction project…especially in offshore projects with their often critical time frames and interaction of many different specialists," said Jens Diekmann, director of TAGU Tiefbau.

Heiko Felderhoff, director of Combi Lift, which is owned by Harren & Partner, commented that even the shared construction of new vessels could be possible in this joint venture.

The joint venture also includes the services of shipbroker and agent German Cargo Services (GCS), which is another joint venture between TAGU and PWL Group, and specialises in the transport of breakbulk, project, ro-ro, heavy lift and offshore wind energy cargoes.

HLPFI reported on June 8 that Norway's Westshore Shipbrokers had nominated GCS as its commercial agent in Germany and the neighbouring countries.
