March 24 - In the US, Colossal Transport Solutions has been contracted to move a 300 tonnes transformer to Centerpoint Energy in Houston, TX.
The move is set to take place this week and Colossal says it will be utilizing several modes of transport to achieve a final delivery date of March 31.
The transformer, pictured, will be moved from a private terminal and loaded onto a deck barge before being shipped to another Houston terminal for easier rail access and clearance to final destination.
Colossal has been working with contractors to provide a floating crane to offload from barge to terminal, a specialized 18 line Goldhofer and a jack-and-slide system at the receiving terminal to conduct the operation.
The transformer will then be loaded onto a 16-axle heavy duty railcar to be transported to the Centerpoint facility.
